Skate
Extreme - Newport

Skate
Extreme has been around for quite a while now,
and has a few face lifts in it's time. It's
current layout is the best it's had so far.
As you walk in you're immediately faced with
a small driveway with block and single rails
on your right, as you walk further in you come
to the next section which is comprised of a
lot of quarter pipes, pyramid, wall ride, 6ft
spined mini with 4ft spine rhythm section next
to it and the vert ramp behind that. Adjacent
to that is the main street section with large
10ft flat bank and qp, leading onto a larger
driveway with block and coping rails, then that
leads on to the 4ft bowl. And last but not least
is the flat bank next to the bowl which leads
to the launch box and foam pit. A few of the
transitions are super steep (namely the qp leading
to the small driveway at the entrance, and the
qp leading to the bowl in the main street section),
but the rest are all really smooth and great
for skating. The launch box is especially good
and is easy to clear, you gain tons of speed
from the flat bank roll in and you can get some
big airs into the foam pit for you to be able
to practice your rodeos.
If
you are going by car, here's how to get there:
From
the East on the M4, leave the M4 at J25, take
the first exit at the roundabout, go for half
a mile and take the right opposite the ESSO
garage. Continue under a small bridge and take
the right immediately after. Skate Extreme is
100 yards down on the left.
From
the West on the M4, leave the M4 at J26, take
the third exit at the roundabout, at the second
roundabout, take the second exit and travel
straight on to the next roundabout. Take the
first exit and stay in the left hand lane and
go straight on at the lights. Take the left
turn opposite the ESSO garage, continue under
the small bridge and take the immediate right.
Skate Extreme is 100 yards down on the left.
Directions if you are travelling by train:
From Newport Station take the subway outside
and head for the big red monument(70ft red thing),
follow the bridge until the ESSO garage, take
the left opposite and go under the small bridge
then right immediately. Skate Extreme is 100
yards down on the left.
