Dom Ebel Interview

Smith on top of the horrible vert wall at Romton

I like that, "absolute worthless imbecile into the spotlight". Big Brother and I'm (not) a Celebrity - Get me out of Here springs to mind.

You're also big into Snowboarding. How long have you been riding and what are your favourite things to ride?

Started Skateboarding when I was 7 in '82, love at first sight. I think Skateboarding moulded my mindset from then on. Got my first Snowboard in '87 and have Snowboarded as much as possible every year from then. Started Streetboarding in '98, when a good friend gave me a "Comp" Snakeboard, drilled some Snowboard bindings in - and that was it! Converted for life, job done!

What similarities would you say there are between Snowboarding and Streetboarding?

Streetboarding and Snowboarding are essentially identical - except you can't butter a Streetboard, and Snowboards can't do grind tricks on!

People may not realise, but you've come back from a lot of gnarly injuries. What was the worst one?

Snowboarding injuries have included snapping my leg across my binding,

Barkeep, i'll have your finest Ale please, a pint thereof

Flying a tailgrab transfer in Salisbury

temporary induced paralysis from damaging my back, compression damaged to the meniscus in my knee, knocking myself out a few times, broken ribs, usual dislocated/broken fingers etc. Skating injuries included properly dislocated shoulder that needed surgery and took me out from all boarding for a year, permanently damaged kneecaps, opening up my head a few times in various places, almost ripping the end off my finger and the usual cuts, burns and bruises. Still managing to continue boarding after 25 years abuse though ;o)
